What does your Visions logo mean to you?

I’ve often felt like I put too much importance on striving towards my next goal that I forget to appreciate the present. My logo has an air of elegance and fantasy that is almost fairytale-like, which is symbolic of how I perceive my life, constantly working towards that happily ever after.

What inspires you creatively?

As cliché as it may sound, I am inspired by everyday life, my peers, friends, family, movies, books, travel, the list goes on. You can truly find inspiration all around you. Even in the mundane and ordinary.

When did you know you wanted to study graphic design?

I’ve always been creative but it took me a while to figure out what to do with it. I took a typography class in community college and finally took my first graphic design class here at CSULB, after that I was hooked.

What is the biggest challenge you've faced and how did you overcome it?

Self-doubt. There was a professor at community college who asked everyone where they were off to next. I mentioned my plans to major in graphic design and he replied with: “Don’t you think that’s a long shot?” He made me feel small and I almost let that experience hold me back. I overcame my self-doubt by not letting his statements have any power over me. Don’t let others determine what you are capable of. At the end of the day, you can decide what is valid.
